Contact-Free Golf Procedures

The health, safety, and wellbeing of our golf community are our primary concern as we navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on Governor Tim Walz’s executive order allowing for the opening of golf courses and the guidance of the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Health, the Les Bolstad Golf Course is opening with modifications allowing for contact-free golf to keep golfers and staff safe.

Contact-Free Golf Procedures

Your health and safety are our top priorities. The University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course has taken the following steps to ensure proper social distancing:

  1. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 per the CDC’s guidelines at www.cdc.gov, please do not golf. Stay home, and contact your physician.

  2. Tee times are required. No walk-ons.

  3. Tee time intervals have been increased to 12 minutes to prevent crowding.

  4. Customers must provide their email address. An email outlining these policies will be sent to anyone making a tee time.

  5. Online payment is encouraged; contactless payment (credit cards only) will be available at the building through the pay window.

  6. Arrive no earlier than 20 minutes before your tee time.

  7. Observe the barricades and markings designating acceptable social distancing.

  8. All points of contact on the course have been removed:

    1. Cups have been modified to allow completion of each hole without golfers needing to put their hands in the hole or touching flagsticks.

    2. Rakes, ball washers, benches, and periscopes will not be available on course.

    3. Putting greens may be used while following appropriate social distancing of remaining at least 6 feet away from others. No more than 10 people allowed on the putting greens at a time.

    4. The golf shop remains closed.

  9. Carts must be limited to one rider for the duration of play and may not be shared or used by any other golfers. Minors may ride with a family member from the same household on a cart. Golfers needing accessibility accommodations may ride with an additional person on the cart. Carts will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.

  10. Avoid congregating in the parking lot prior to or after your round and adhere to social distancing guidelines of six feet.

  11. All pre-purchased pro-shop merchandise will be put in a bag and given to customers by staff wearing proper PPE.

  12. Hand sanitizer will be at pro-shop doors use when picking up merchandise or paying for golf.

  13. Restrooms are available at the Memorial Shelter and the Driving Range. These facilities will be cleaned every 30 minutes. Note: Restrooms in the Clubhouse will be closed.

  14. Walkalongs and ridealongs are not allowed.

  15. If possible, please wear a cloth mask per CDC guidelines at www.cdc.gov.

You can enjoy one of the largest driving ranges in the state with over 60 hitting stalls. Hit to target nets to hone a short game or measure iron distances to our course's laser-sighted distance markers.

Distances from the tee to the pole markers are recorded daily to ensure exact yardage, so you will always know how far balls are traveling.

Both individual and group instruction is available at the driving range and learning center. All instructors are PGA certified and teach in an encouraging environment catered to you and your game.

From SPRING 2019

Les Bolstad is a great course with friendly staff. No matter my own schedule, I know I have a consistent opportunity to play affordable golf on a weekly basis and meet some new golfers in the process.
