Golf Course COVID-19 FAQ
When will the Golf Course open?
The health, safety, and wellbeing of our golf community are our primary concerns as we navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on Governor Tim Walz’s executive order allowing for the opening of golf courses and the guidance of the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Health, the Les Bolstad Golf Course is opening on Friday, May 1, with modifications allowing for contact-free golf to keep golfers and staff safe.
What is now open and how is this different from normal operations of the Golf Course?
Golfing is open. However, the Clubhouse, Driving Range, and all food and beverage services will remain closed. In our limited reopening, we will require that golfers book tee times online or by phone. In this first phase of our opening, we will have a modified form of limited contact payment on site. We will soon move to entirely contact-free payment online.
How do I pay or make a reservation?
To practice social distancing, we are asking golfers to book tee times online https://www.uofmgolf.com/ or by phone 612-627-4000. In this first phase of our opening, we will have a modified form of limited contact payment on site.
Can non-golfers walk around the Golf Course?
At this time, for the safety of others, we are limiting access to the course only to golfers who have booked tee times in advance. The course is not open to the general public for walking, exercise, or other activities.
Will there be restrooms available?
There will be limited restroom amenities available at the Memorial Shelter between holes 4 and 15. These restrooms will be cleaned frequently while open by Golf Course staff.
Will season passes and other special rates be available online?
At this time, due to the limitations of our online-only payment system, there will be one general rate available to all golfers. We will continue to explore ways to offer the special rates that are usually available to our community at some point in the future. Please continue to check the Golf Course website for updates.
How will you maintain safety for visitors?
Based on guidance from the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Health, the Les Bolstad Golf Course is providing modifications allowing for contact-free golf to keep golfers and staff safe. By limiting interactions with our staff members and closing the Clubhouse and Driving range, golfers can maintain social distancing while also enjoying the outdoors and exercising. We are also recommending members of our staff wear masks and frequently cleaning restrooms, as well as all maintenance equipment.
Are provisions being made to ensure golf staff will remain safe?
The health, safety, and wellbeing of our golf community and staff are our primary concerns as we navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have implemented internal staff procedures to enforce social distancing and are requiring staff wear masks.
When will the Golf Course driving range and Clubhouse reopen?
We are working closely with our University partners and state and federal officials to determine when it is safe to resume normal operations with these amenities. We will be sure to share this information as soon as we are able.
Are all events and tournaments cancelled?
Events and tournaments are currently cancelled through June. We will share updated information about the rest of the summer as we are able.
